क्या हमारा मीडिया व्यवस्था का गुलाम है?

आम आदमी पार्टी के धरना प्रदर्शन ने मीडिया का ध्यान खींचा, और एक हद तक उसकी िइस बात के लिए भर्त्सना की कि इसके कारण सामान्य जीवन अस्त-व्यस्त हो गया। सवाल है ऐसे में मीडिया की भूमिका क्या कुछ और संतुलनकारी हो सकती थी? क्या हम सब व्यवस्था का समर्थन नहीं करने लगे? ज्यादातर चैनलों ने अचानक इस आंदोलन को अराजक मान लिया। शायद इन्हीं आरोपों के कारण आज सुबह के टाइम्स ऑफ इंडिया ने पहले पेज पर एक विशेष आलेख में स्पष्ट किया कि न हम आप समर्थक हैं और न आप विरोधी। उधर सेवंती नायनन ने मिंट के अपने क़लम में सवाल उठाया है कि मुख्यधारा का मीडिया को व्यवस्था की चिंता इतनी ज्यादा क्यों? इंडियन एक्सप्रेस के ऑप एडिट में गुरप्रीत महाजन ने लोकतंत्र में विरोध व्यक्त करने की पद्धति को लेकर कुछ बुनियादी सवाल उठाए हैं, पर आप को अराजक मानने से इनकार किया है। हिन्दी के अखबार आंदोलन के रोचक पहलुओं को उजागर करते रहे, पर उन्होंने इस बात की पड़ताल करने की कोशिश नहीं की कि जनता पर इसका क्या असर पड़ा है। मीडिया के लिए फिलहाल संदेश यह है कि वह किसी एक धारा में बहने के बजाय थोड़ा धैर्य रखकर कवरेज करे। बहरहाल आज की मीडिया कवरेज में कुछ रोचक बातें निकल कर आई हैं। उन्हें पढ़ेंः-

Truth is, we have no political masters, nor do we have any hidden agendas. The only side we take is that of our readers. 

We do not seek power or influence despite being by far the world's largest-circulated English newspaper. But we do want to use the columns of this paper to do good. We want to make India a better place for our children; we want them to grow up with hope, not despair.

It sought to expose the lies through bits of footage: He says no food has been allowed in? Here, see he’s eating. He says no loos for his protesters? Here see the loos are open and accessible. He says no water for people to drink? Here, there are water tankers.
